The Exeter team at Devondale Electrical Wholesalers has been extended with the appointment of new Regional Manager, Simon Luxton.

He will be responsible for the business’s presence and development in the Exeter and East Devon area.

Simon, who lives in Exeter, attended Exeter College before joining the Express & Echo newspaper as a web editor. A career sea-change found him working for electrical wholesaler the Edmundsen Group where he was taken on as trainee, later becoming sales rep with a promotion to a management role in 2015.

Simon says the move to Devondale Electrical provides him with the perfect next step in his career.

“Over the past few years, Devondale has gone through a process of rebranding and expansion, and now has a strong presence in the South West with a loyal customer base. The growth has been measured, with a clear focus on responding to local demand.

“It’s a breath of fresh air for me to be able to concentrate on taking stock and developing the business. Having worked for a large national company, moving to a smaller independent that gives greater autonomy offers an exciting opportunity.”

Simon will be responsible for the company’s two Exeter branches with a team of 17 members of staff to manage. His remit includes the trade counter, merchandising and building relationships.

“Devondale’s 11 branches across the South West work closely together to provide a seamless service, with inter-branch deliveries meaning that the widest possible range of stock is accessible to customers,” he added.

Simon is keen to develop a value-added service in branch, making special offers more visible to customers calling in.  He is also concentrating on progressing Devondale’s presence on social media. He is looking forward to developing expertise of individual team members and becoming involved in mentoring.

Managing Director, Paul Wood said: “I’ve known Simon for some years and I was delighted when he agreed to join Devondale to come with us on our journey to the next level of business success.”
